100th Day of School Kid Craft

Celebrate the 100th day of school by making a unique work of art using 100 colorful pom poms! For kindergarteners who have just started school the 100th day is a particularly important landmark. As she creates her pom pom art, reflect back on the last half year of school with your child and congratulate her on what she's accomplished.
In addition to helping your child reflect on her past experiences, this activity also offers your child good practice in color recognition and counting to 100.
If you don't happen to have pom poms handy, you can also use any of the following items...cheerios, beans, beads, stickers, punched out paper shapes, buttons, pasta...the list is endless.
For more fun math activities, go to Education.com!

What You Need:

  • Construction paper in any color
  • 100 mini pom poms in assorted colors
  • Glue

What You Do:

  1. Have your child count out 100 pom poms in various colors.
  2. Ask your child to choose a favorite part of school or a favorite thing about school such as a sport, subject, or activity.
  3. Once your child has selected a favorite thing, ask her to think of a simple image that represents it. For example, if your child chose music as her favorite part of school, she might choose a musical note to represent it.
  4. Have your child arrange the pom poms on the construction paper in the shape of the image she chose.
  5. Help your child carefully glue the pom poms onto the paper to complete her picture.
  6. Set aside the pom pom picture to dry completely.
  7. Once it's dry, have your child recount the pom poms in the picture. Are there 100?
Display your pom pom artwork on the wall or refrigerator to commemorate the 100th day of school!

Teacher Appreciation Week - 2017

Another fun week of Teacher Appreciation has come and gone. Being in the middle of a move hasn't completely put the stop light on my creativity. This week of gifts wasn't as "put together" as I'd like...but in the end, you have to remember, it's the thought that counts!

--- DAY ONE ---

Teacher Appreciation Week - LeroyLime.com - LeroyLime

Although the winter is gone, it doesn't mean the germs are,
a massive bottle of hand sanitizer and a small magnetic chalk
board went into today's bag

--- DAY TWO ---

Teacher Appreciation Week - LeroyLime.com - LeroyLime

A small wooden sign from Target, reads
"you make me HAPPY" and a set of blank notecards.

--- DAY THREE ---

Teacher Appreciation Week - LeroyLime.com - LeroyLime

A small post-it note pad, coordinating pen and
light summer scarf went into today's bag

--- DAY FOUR ---

Teacher Appreciation Week - LeroyLime.com - LeroyLime

I finally tried my hand at chalk painting jars, it was rather
fun and I had the slotted lids set aside just for this kind
of a project, they make arranging flowers a breeze.

--- DAY FIVE ---

Teacher Appreciation Week - LeroyLime.com - LeroyLime

I stole today's theme from the fun pencils, that read
"I like big books and I cannot lie" and
"Read, Write, Draw and Repeat". I wanted to include
a Barnes and Noble gift card but settled on a Target gift
card, since we don't have a Barnes and Noble near us.
I thought it'd be fun to include a book or two,
The Aviator's Wife and Chicken Soup for the Teacher's Soul,
were the perfect find for $1 each!

Valentine Printable Tag

Always on the search for cool teacher gifts, I came across some monogrammed koozies a few months ago and added them to my teacher gift crate of great! Now what to do for Valentine's Day?...

FREE Valentine Printable - You are honestly sweet - www.leroylime.com

It's always hard to bypass all the sweets during Valentine's Day and every holiday, who am I kidding. As I was thinking of putting together a little something for my kiddos teachers, I remembered said koozies and ran to the store for a few bottles of sweet iced tea.

A gift wouldn't be complete without a tag, so I've taken the guess work out of it all and added one you can print out and use as well! I'm sure your teachers will enjoy a sweet token of love and it's always nice to have something tasty to drink too! This would be sweet on a bottle of honey too, buzz, buzz!

Friday Favorites - Week 356

Happy Friday y'all!! Anyone else still enjoying their bare homes before pulling out a bit of lovely Valentine decor? I usually have our home decked out by now but have gone into full purge mode throughout our home and have been listing pretty much everything that isn't bolted down, for sale...fingers crossed it goes well!

I've started watercoloring through a fantastic online course and have fallen in love with a new media! If you follow me on Instagram, then you've seen my progress thus far, if not, here's a little sneak peek.
