Plate Rack UpDo

As promised, here are my snazzy plate racks, all dolled up and put to good use!

After looking at them closer in the light of day this morning, I saw I missed a few spots, so gave them another spritz and let them cure for a few hours before hanging.

On the wall

And graced with these sweet watercolors we picked up in Tallinn Estonia
on a Scandinavian Cruise we took back in 2005.

The black frames were very inexpensive from Wally World.

Rack 'Em Up

My first ever encounter with spray paint today, turned into a quick AHA lightbulb moment! Why oh WHY have I not tried this before, so quick, simple, painless, easy...just don't touch it when it's wet, I speak from experience.

I picked up three of these iron plate racks a few days ago at a thrift shop, tags still on. I've always secretly wanted plate racks, just not for plates. GASP! I know, right?! Here's a before, they were obviously supposed to look a little shabby but the dirty unkept look and red marks on them just weren't doing it for me.

Stop back tomorrow to see what I have in store for these repainted beauties.

AND my desk was officially broken-in today, I've gone and messed it up, hooray for creative spurts.

The Space

Moving every couple of years into newer and older homes, you learn to make good use of your space. Especially if you're like me and you like to st r  e  t ch out a bit! Here's a little peek into my newest 'space'.

My desk top is a heavy piece of large MDF that I painted a few coats of white paint on for a nice smooth finish. I had to flip it over this move since our movers put a huge gouge in the other side. My table legs used to be two tall stool (which are now serving their rightful place at the counter in our kitchen) but have been upgraded to these snazzy two drawer file cabinets, which house all of my 8-1/2X11" cardstock.

I use the tabbed folders to hold all the scraps of paper and place the full sheets
behind their coordinating colors.

Another piece of MDF, slathered with some more white paint. My Dad screwed in the old bars I've had from IKEA, while he was here and then screwed this bag boy into the studs...cause man, is it HEAVY with all of those punches!

Old IKEA cd shelves work great for holding all of my stamp sets and those snazzy ink pad holders I purchased from non other than ETSY 4 years ago, they work great for holding ribbon too.

Another wall unit but this time from Michael's...with a 50% off coupon, I might add. All the jars are from Hobby Lobby, they were cheaper there and had more selections.

A dear friend from TX gave this to me
before we left and I laugh every time I read it!

We're OPEN

I dreaded packing away all of my paper, products and tools this summer but was hopeful that I'd have the perfect space to create in our new home once again and let my mind fly with artsy ideas. The truck was unloaded and the boxes started getting thrown out of the house with each cut of tape and unwrap of paper. The craft boxes are usually last on the list to unpack but this year, they took center stage after the bedrooms and kitchen were manageable.

The shop is open once again and I'll be listing new items throughout the week. I love special requests and working with clients to create that one of a kind invitation, card or party theme that's perfect for you. Thanks for being so very patient with me...happy summer!

The shop has been on vacation mode due to a family move this summer, including a wedding and then back to unpacking...The shop reopens August 1st and I'm excited to list some new lines that's I've created and I'll be working on more once I get back into a normal groove again. Thanks for being so patient with me...
