DIY Cozy Neutral Wreath

When the cold weather kicks in, there is nothing like a cozy sweater to warm you up. I decided to try my hand at my second wrapped wreath (you can find the first one here) but this time I used chenille instead of plain yarn. It was fantastically soft to work with and I have quite a bit left over from my roll to use for other projects.

Start by tying your yarn around your foam wreath form and knotting in place, then go to town with your lasso skills and make sure you have a cup of coffee (or wine) handy, it does take a bit of time and patience. I wrapped both of my wreath forms sitting in our driveway while my kiddos played with their toys. As you can see, Satine, our Yorkie, was a big help! Once you've worked your way around your wreath form, knot your yarn in the back and move on to your smaller wreath form and do it again. Practice makes perfect!

I wasn't sure how many flowers I'd want on the wreath so instead of picking up individual felt sheets, I grabbed a pack of felt, a much larger piece that I cut down with my pizza cutter and mat. I have a handy flower die that cut the felt perfectly after I ran it through my Big Shot, one felt piece at a time.

I rolled each flower and then hot glued the back to seal them shut, aren't they cute?!

A small scrap of green felt was turned into tiny leaves, these I simply cut by hand.

After attaching my ribbon to the larger wreath, I hot glued the smaller wreath on top of the larger and then started gluing on the flowers. I added leaves here and there and then hung the wreath on our old curbside free window I picked up in Newport, Rhode Island. Simple, cozy and neutral. 

$1 Green Wreath

After trimming up our outdoor landscaping for the winter, 

I decided to let a few of my trimmings take center stage for just a bit longer.

I picked up the wire wreath shape from my local dollar store for just one dollar and grabbed a roll of fishing line (that I had on hand) to attach the pieces to my wreath form.

Tie the pieces on one by one and then fill in the spots by slipping in a few smaller pieces until you

get "the look" you are trying to achieve. My goal was to just cover up any and all portions of the wire wreath form.

 Hang and enjoy! This one lasted about a two weeks before the leaves turned brown. It took less than 10 minutes to pull it together so if you're looking for a quick project to wow your company, keep a  wire wreath form on hand. You can fill it with anything for a fun simple creative project!

DIY 10 Min Wreath for under $10

The very last piece missing from our front porch fall decor

was a wreath for our front door. So I put this one together

for under $10 in just 10 minutes!

I had picked up a few of these grape vine bundles 

at AC Moore when they were on sale for $2.50

each and had one left. I used two of them on my

Tee Pee Trees and hung the other above the doorway.

First I snipped off the tags and then loosely unwrapped

and rewrapped my vine in a simple circle. I used garden

rope twine to secure the end in place and then tied two more

sections of my wreath form to firm everything up.

The burlap ribbon, I purchased for $4.99 and a 40%

coupon and three leaf bundles came from the Dollar Tree.

I snipped off three 12" sections of the burlap, triple

folded, tucking in my end on the back of the wreath and hot

glued it into place. I didn't even use an entire glue stick on this 

project! After covering up my garden twine with the burlap

pieces, I snipped off the leaves that I wanted to use

and saved the other ones for a future project.

 I placed my leaves along one side first and then with just a drop

of hot glue on each back, stuck them in place. I wanted to be able

to reuse the vines in the future, if I get tired of this wreath, so

didn't use as much glue as I normally would.

for under $10 in only 10 minutes!

DIY Silver Tinsel Wreaths

I'll be playing "catch up" for a bit since my computer was down 

over the holidays and I was unable to post my holiday crafty ideas...

Here are two simple and easy silver wreaths I made for our guest room. 

They hang just above each headboard and add some beautiful 

silver holiday pizzaz to the room.

I used two silver tinsel garlands ($1 each) one on each circular form. 

The cardboard circles I upcycled instead of recycling them. They were

in between the lids of the large glass jars I purchased from WalMart 

earlier this year. A bit of hot glue to start and then a few times wrapping

the garland around till I got to the end of the garland. I pulled the silver

out of the way to place more hot glue onto my cardboard then attached

the end of the garland, tied a bit of bakers twine, then hung above

the beds.

Another simple and inexpensive way to add a bit of 

festive to your home during the holiday season!

Easter Egg Wreath with Washi Tape

My kids have been chomping at the bit with our recent

snow fall and lack of outdoor play, so I asked them to help

me with this project. They sorted out fun colored plastic eggs

and wrapped Washi Tape around the openings, while I

wrapped and hot glued everything onto the wreath. 

I didn't have enough of the blue organza to wrap the 

entire wreath, so I pulled out some green paper grass to

fill in the gap. A chevron ribbon left over from a diaper

cake was added before I finished up with the grass. 

I had to put my OCD aside with the washi tape on the 

eggs but the kids did a fantastic job and kept their

creative hands busy for a few minutes, hooray!

A bit of hot glue strategically placed on the eggs and 

taadaa...a finished wreath. I love the fun pops of color

throughout and that we had everything on hand, 

so no trips to the craft store were needed.

Orange Organza Fall Wreath

I've been so inspired by all the fun wreaths out there in internet lala land that I decided to make another to add to my fall/halloween decor. I picked up everything I needed at Joann's Fabric Store (only because Hobby Lobby was closed that day) and got to work cutting strips of organza. 

I started off tying two dark, one light orange and so on...until I ran out of organza and there my wreath sat (for about two weeks, mind you) till I remembered to pick up two more rolls.

The black flower was in the dollar bin at Joann's and I picked it up, thinking it would be a fun addition to just pin onto the finished wreath. After fluffing and spinning the knots this way and that, so as to disguise them a bit, I hung this sweet little "fall" paper banner behind the wreath, with bakers twine.

And here's my new DIY creation hanging on our front door...the perfect Welcome when we arrive HOME (and don't enter through the garage, haahaa)
