DIY 10 Min Wreath for under $10

The very last piece missing from our front porch fall decor
was a wreath for our front door. So I put this one together
for under $10 in just 10 minutes!

10 Minute Wreath for under $10 - LeroyLime

I had picked up a few of these grape vine bundles
at AC Moore when they were on sale for $2.50
each and had one left. I used two of them on my
Tee Pee Trees and hung the other above the doorway.

10 Minute Wreath for under $10

First I snipped off the tags and then loosely unwrapped
and rewrapped my vine in a simple circle. I used garden
rope twine to secure the end in place and then tied two more
sections of my wreath form to firm everything up.

10 Minute Wreath for under $10

The burlap ribbon, I purchased for $4.99 and a 40%
coupon and three leaf bundles came from the Dollar Tree.

I snipped off three 12" sections of the burlap, triple
folded, tucking in my end on the back of the wreath and hot
glued it into place. I didn't even use an entire glue stick on this
project! After covering up my garden twine with the burlap
pieces, I snipped off the leaves that I wanted to use
and saved the other ones for a future project.

10 Minute Wreath for under $10

I placed my leaves along one side first and then with just a drop
of hot glue on each back, stuck them in place. I wanted to be able
to reuse the vines in the future, if I get tired of this wreath, so
didn't use as much glue as I normally would.

10 Minute Wreath for under $10

and Taadaa...a completed Natural Fall Wreath
for under $10 in only 10 minutes!

DIY Wooden Pumpkins

Fall Porch Decor LeroyLime

Okay y'all, I've stepped out of my paper cut comfort zone, into the world of wood and scary saws...

and I am in LOVE!!

I picked up some small picket fence boards and snagged a few pots of 50 cent clearance paint from
Home Depot and got to work.

I knew I wanted to make two pumpkins, one big and one small, so I separated my pile of wood
accordingly, grabbed a piece of scrap wood and screwed into each picket section from the back.
It'll shift on you, if you leave it as such, so grab a smaller piece of scrap and diagonally fix it to
your cross bars.

I took a pencil and rough sketched out a pumpkin on the backs, next time I'll put my sketch on the front since the cross bars were a bit in my way. Lesson learned and I wouldn't learn if I didn't try!

DIY Wooden Pumpkins

My work station all set up on our driveway, I'm sure my neighbors think I'm crazy!

I clamped down one side of each piece and taking a jigsaw, cut off the extra pieces along my rough
sketch. I have to say it was quite satisfying with each section that dropped to the ground.

DIY Wooden Pumpkins

I flipped the board over, re clamped and cut out the other side of my pumpkins.

Next the sanding, over the entire fronts and sides...buzzzzzzzzz...I rounded the bottoms a bit more
with the jigsaw, until I was happy with my pumpkins.

DIY Wooden Pumpkins

Couldn't pass up the steal on paint... I snagged 6 pots for 50 cents a piece...colors I know I'll use for
future projects and even it I don't, I didn't break the bank!

Not sure why in the bottom right photo the paint looks grey, it's a brown...

DIY Wooden Pumpkins

I cut the end off of a cheap brush to make it firmer and sort of tapped, dry brushed with that, finishing
up with a paper towel to blend. (Just on the brown pumpkin to give it more detail.)

DIY Wooden Pumpkins

A quick clear coat of poly and they are proudly displayed on our front porch. I'm just excited they
won't rot and I'll have to throw them away!

DIY Wooden Pumpkins

If you have a pile of scrap wood lying around, give these a try, they sure were fun to make!

Fall in LOVE with Decorating

Swung by Wally World today to snag a few of my favorite
glass jars (yup, I just said Wally World) and to my surprise,
I found a few other fun items, to get me in the mood to pull
out the dreaded but fun orange topped tubs from storage...

Two pieces of black 'creepy' gauze, One large glass jar, One
black large pumpkin, A sparkly BEWARE sign, A large black owl
and A roll of black sparkly tulle were the only purchases.
The rest was tucked away, nothing got broken in the move, woohoo!!

I didn't realize my hubby had a fear of rats until last year,
when his co workers would leave them in unsuspecting places
and he'd end up chucking them back at them...haha
...let's see if he can find the two in our house!

A little bit creepy, a little bit dreamy...
and a lot of fun, don't you think?

Fall Tags for Treats

I made these cute tags yesterday to adorn some yummy chocolate chip banana bread loaves. Think outside the box with your stamps...how can you use them differently?? Etc. The leaf print stamp is actually meant to wrap a chocolate nugget candy BUT, with a square punch, I notched out the bottom and then with a foam dot, I added a different saying... Yum, instead of Give Thanks. Added a few leaves made out of coordinating paper and can you say CUTE?!

Orange Organza Fall Wreath

Organza DIY Fall Wreath - LeroyLime

I've been so inspired by all the fun wreaths out there in internet lala land that I decided to make another to add to my fall/halloween decor. I picked up everything I needed at Joann's Fabric Store (only because Hobby Lobby was closed that day) and got to work cutting strips of organza.

Organza DIY Fall Wreath - LeroyLime

I started off tying two dark, one light orange and so on...until I ran out of organza and there my wreath sat (for about two weeks, mind you) till I remembered to pick up two more rolls.

The black flower was in the dollar bin at Joann's and I picked it up, thinking it would be a fun addition to just pin onto the finished wreath. After fluffing and spinning the knots this way and that, so as to disguise them a bit, I hung this sweet little "fall" paper banner behind the wreath, with bakers twine.

And here's my new DIY creation hanging on our front door...the perfect Welcome when we arrive HOME (and don't enter through the garage, haahaa)

Happy Fall Y'all!!

Fall/Halloween Decor

Growing up, we didn't celebrate Halloween...or decorate for it. My Mom would however let us put on a face mask (mine was either Strawberry Shortcake or a cat) and knock on three or four of our country farm neighbors doors. One being my Grandparents, who would always act like they had NO CLUE who we were but would fill our hands with all sort of yummy hard candies and pennies. As I got older, I grew to LOVE fall, all the warm colors, pumpkin pie scent (Starbucks coffee, yes please!) and making our house feel warm and cozy with fall decor.

Now, I'm not one for the creepy part of Halloween, I won't let my kids pick out nasty costumes with blood dripping out of their mouths, knifes poking through their heads or aliens, gasp. That's a story for another day. But I do enjoy adding a bit of 'fun' creepy, if you can call it that, to salt and pepper our fall decor.

I picked up this little black box at an antique shop a few years back. Usually I stand it up and place mini pumpkins and small paper signs in it but this year, I stuffed it with packing paper, threw some moss on top and then places these creepy hands here and there, I LOVE how it turned out!

Look closely next to the little fence...red beady eyes are peering back at you. I giggled as I put this little touch in our hutch, just knowing that my hubby would probably get a little shock the next time he grabbed a scotch glass!

Thanksgiving is part of fall too...I put it all out at once and then remove the Halloween bits after October is over.

Look what I found to put in my DIY shelf. I placed one of my necklaces on the little lady, adding some spider webs for a more creepy effect.

The little owl, white pumpkins and black tree are a few items I purchased this year, I had everything else packed away in my orange tubs, just waiting for new life and placement in our new home!

My pumpkins add such a warm glow, love 'em! The pre lit bulbs went kaput a few years ago, so I just stuck a few strands of Christmas tree lights in them to give them their life back.

Oops, forgot about the mummy...my son was dancing along with this little guy in the store, so I just HAD to bring him home, thought he looked great with the creepy hands sticking out of the ground.

Some fun towels for the kitchen, one of the first banners I listed in my LeroyLime shop and a glow in the dark rock.

What's your favorite??
